Reading Activists Make Mockumentaries

Reading Activist Stars
Reading Activist Stars

Reading Activists from Central, Blaydon and Birtley Library had great fun at the end of May attending a documentary film making workshop organised by Pop-Up Film School in association with Northern Stars Film Academy at Tyneside Cinema.

Eleven teens enjoyed acting out two silly scenarios: “Graph-iti Vandals” (i.e. maths nerds go wild) and “Koob Bulc” (a back-to-front book club), before filming the sketches to turn them into quirky mockumentaries. The teens got hands on experience of all aspects involved in the documentary making process and really enjoyed their day.

Reading Activists is a national project, supported by the Reading Agency, which gives young people new skills and opportunities by enabling them to design, plan and run activities in their local library for their peers.
