Highlights of the centre include:

- Family history resources relating to the church which was the venue of all Church of England burials before 1811 and all baptisms and marriages before 1825
- Find out about the History of Gateshead in the atmospheric medieval church and graveyard.
St Mary's Graveyard
Thanks to a generous grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, we have been able to digitise a two-volumed book of graveyard epitaphs taken from St Mary's Gateshead by Edwin Dodds, a local family historian and bookbinder in 1907. It is especially valuable, because many of the stones have since disappeared. As well as providing us with photographs of some of the gravestones and interior and exterior images of St Mary's Church, extra information compiled by Edwin Dodds has been included, providing a valuable resource to local and family historians. You can download and search Dodds Volume 1 and Dodds Volume 2 by following the links to the right of the page. Please note file sizes are large so download speeds may vary.
