Gateshead Libraries is pleased to offer various work experience opportunities for young people based around creative reading, writing and artistic events. If you'd like to get involved, make new friends, gain new skills and valuable experience, please contact the group you're most interested in. Don’t worry if you can’t make every meeting, we understand that you have a life outside of the library!

Reading Hack is supported by the Reading Agency and funded through Big Lottery. It offers people aged 13-24 the opportunity to work alongside library staff and help organise events. We have four Reading Hack groups in Gateshead, each with their own name and identity.

We usually begin recruiting volunteers around Easter so if you’d like to help with this year’s activities and events, please contact your local library or email: Tel: 0191 433 8494
